Paws on the Pavement: Miss Lily's Sydney Easter Adventure!

Hello fellow furballs and their wonderful humans! Miss Lily, your favourite jet-setting Toy Poodle, back with tales from my recent Easter adventure to the dazzling city of Sydney!

Now, you all know I’m pretty used to having my human around 24/7 since this whole "working from home" thing started. But this was different. This was a road trip! My second time heading interstate, and let me tell you, the excitement was bubbling in my little poodle belly like a freshly opened can of yummy salmon pate. It's a whole different kind of amazing experience when you're travelling with your dog, letting you explore each new place from a totally different, and much more interesting, perspective.

First things first: the drive. Ten. Whole. Hours. Even for a seasoned explorer like yours truly (though there might have been a little backseat serenading… okay, whining), that’s a fair bit of road. Thankfully, my human knows the way to my heart (and bladder relief!). Our pit stop at Pheasants Nest servo was a highlight – a little dog park where I could unleash my inner speed demon and stretch my elegant poodle legs. A true lifesaver!

Then, finally, Sydney! And can you believe where we stayed? Right under that giant metal arch – the Sydney Harbour Bridge! Our digs at Pier One were super dog-friendly. I even got to sprawl out on a King. Size. Bed. with my human! Talk about living the dream! And the ultimate indulgence? Room service! Forget boring kibble; I devoured a glorious plate of steak and juicy carrots. Let's just say the bowl was sparkling clean. While there are so many wonderful dog-friendly accommodations available these days, we chose this one specifically for its incredible location right beneath the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Day one in Sydney was all about the iconic Bondi Beach! You know, where those Bondi Rescue humans do their thing? Thankfully, my important promenade patrols didn't require any heroic lifeguard interventions. Although my paws couldn’t feel the actual sand, since we were limited to the promenade, the salty air and sunshine on my fur as we strolled the length of Bondi's walkway were still pure paw-fection! We even ventured onto a bit of the stunning Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Yet, being a dog-friendly spot, my human made sure my comfy leash was on to keep everyone safe and happy – safety first for all our travelling furry friends! That ocean breeze was the best part of the adventure.

After our exciting Bondi adventures, we hopped in the car again. Next stop: the Sydney Fish Market! Sadly, it's not exactly a doggy paradise inside, so I waited patiently outside with another human while my human dashed in to sniff out whatever delicious treasures they were after. The air around the market was certainly alive with a thousand different fishy aromas, though honestly, nothing beats the simple joy of a good patch of grass.

Day two was all about conquering the Sydney Harbour Bridge… well, the walking part anyway. It was my human’s first time too, so there were lots of photo opportunities – some with yours truly looking particularly photogenic, others… well, let’s just say I was more interested in a particularly interesting smell. After our high-altitude adventure, it was back to the hotel for a well-deserved nap before an afternoon exploring Darling Harbour. We had a lovely chill session by the water before diving into the vibrant chaos of Chinatown for some delicious takeaway.

Just when I thought we were heading back to Melbourne, my human pulled a fast one! "Canberra, here we come!" another new place for my nose to explore. While they wouldn't let me sniff around inside that giant Parliament House – apparently, it's a "human-only" zone – I did get to model my best angles for some seriously stylish photos outside. After all that excitement, it was finally time for the long ride home.

The whole Easter long weekend was blessed with the most paw-some weather – sunny and warm without being too hot for my delicate little paws. I absolutely adored this road trip with my human. Every new smell, every exciting sight, every shared moment made my tail wag with joy. Now I’m just dreaming about our next adventure! Where do you think we’ll go next?

Wags and happy trails,

Miss Lily 🐾
